Daily Devotional for August 31, 2021 – Courage and trust in God vs compromise and conformity…which will you choose?

Luke 12:4-5
“I’m speaking to you as dear friends. Don’t be bluffed into silence or insincerity by the threats of religious bullies. True, they can kill you, but then what can they do? There’s nothing they can do to your soul, your core being. Save your fear for God, who holds your entire life—body and soul—in his hands.

I still remember a Sunday afternoon when my mother entered our basement and found me stitching together a dress. “You are sewing on a Sunday?” she asked with indignation? My teenage self found this a perfectly acceptable activity for the afternoon of our “Day of Rest.” But at the time, my mother was not in agreement. I also recall when she told me that I could decide for myself whether to attend a junior high dance…but I would have to live with the consequences. It seemed like there were a lot of “rules” surrounding the church when I was young. While the nature of some of these changed over time, other tenets and directives have taken their place in many instances.

In recent months, there have been plenty of “religious” leaders and church members across the world that have insisted that in-person worship – often unmasked – is where we ought to be when the church doors are open. Some have maintained that vaccinations, masking and social distancing are not necessary – that God will take care of His people. Sadly, many of these same folks have fallen ill with COVID-19 – and some have died from it.

Some have listened to mortal men and women who claim that this person or that group is unacceptable or “less than” in some way – even while they profess to love and serve a Savior who told us to “love one another.” Some have claimed an unfounded “safety and security” in the rules and tenets of a church body rather than in what God tells in His word – and Christ Jesus demonstrated in His life, death and resurrection.

Some of us have become so caught up in what “the church” says or does that we have forgotten to listen to God. We have forgotten that every good gift comes from Him…and I believe this includes the scientific wisdom of precautions and protocols to address this pandemic and Jesus’ demonstrations of inclusion of all people. We are so afraid of what others will think of us – especially those in our church family, community or our own circle of influence – that we are willing to compromise our values or twist what we know God is telling us to conform and feel more comfortable.

I would rather have others upset with me because of my stance than to know that I did not listen to God. I know this is a deeply personal and individual choice. But when I let God decide for me, I trust that He will guard and guide me through any challenges, ridicule, or division. Obeying God with faith and courage may cause us to be disconnected from other humans…but it will never separate us from God Himself. And shouldn’t this be our goal?

Joshua 24:15 tells us…“If you decide that it’s a bad thing to worship God, then choose a god you’d rather serve—and do it today. Choose one of the gods your ancestors worshiped from the country beyond The River, or one of the gods of the Amorites, on whose land you’re now living. As for me and my family, we’ll worship God.” Jesus reminds us in Luke 12:4-5 that when we choose to listen to God, we are putting our faith and hope in the One who holds us in His hands – body and soul, forever and ever. My prayer is that you would choose to listen to God over man every time – and live with the hope, courage and confidence of His power and presence. Alleluia, and Amen!

Daily Devotional for August 30, 2021 – Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid…God is with you every step you take!

Joshua 1:6-9
In the same way I was with Moses, I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you. Strength! Courage! You are going to lead this people to inherit the land that I promised to give their ancestors. Give it everything you have, heart and soul. Make sure you carry out The Revelation that Moses commanded you, every bit of it. Don’t get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you’re going. And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed. Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.”

I’m going to bake bread using my grandmother Polly’s homemade roll recipe later today. I’ve made this bread dozens of times, and as long as I follow her directions and do exactly as she taught me, the results will be delicious. My grandmother’s recipe is incredibly straightforward…yeast, sugar, a little shortening, water, salt, and flour. I’ve tried other versions, and it’s never quite right. I’ve added an egg and substituted butter. I always come back to what I know works.

While I do use an electric stand mixer and dough hooks to stir the dough, I still knead it by hand. I can hear my grandmother telling me how to pull flour into the edges of the dough and work it until everything is pliable. I have shown Zola how to do this, and I plan to show the boys, too. I want to pass this skill to future generations, in hopes that they will be able to confidently turn out a pan of Mam-a Polly’s rolls or a loaf of bread.

This passage from Joshua reminds us to stay the course and keep doing things that we know work. Keep following the commandments that God gave to Moses. Keep trusting Jesus. Don’t get off track. Listen for the Holy Spirit’s voice guiding and guarding us. Don’t be timid, and don’t be discouraged.

It would be easy to get derailed these days, as one thing after another seems to arise that could distract at best…and confuse or completely upend us in some instances. We must remember the words of God to Joshua…“Strength! Courage! Your God is with you ever step you take!” Hallelujah!

Daily Devotional for August 29, 2021 – Putting Jesus in your “picture”…and finding courage and hope in His presence and care

John 16:29-33
His disciples said, “Finally! You’re giving it to us straight, in plain talk—no more figures of speech. Now we know that you know everything—it all comes together in you. You won’t have to put up with our questions anymore. We’re convinced you came from God.”

Scripture quotations from The Message. © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene Peterson. Used by permission of NavPress, Colorado Springs, CO. All rights reserved.

This passage reminded me of a photograph shared by the wife of one of my former students. The picture shows my student, his wife, and their two children, Kenneth and Chloe, walking through a grassy field. Superimposed in the photo was a filmy image of another child holding her mother’s hand. The image was intended to represent Cara, who was born the same day as Kenneth and Chloe. The triplets were delivered at 25 weeks, and after several months in Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Baby Cara did not survive. A year or more after their premature birth, siblings Chloe and Kenneth finally were able to leave the hospital – and today, they are quite literally “poster children” for the amazing care provided at ACH.

I think of this photo and its symbolism often. I know that for this family, Cara is always present in their hearts – and often on their minds. I know that as these parents look at the two precious children who survived, they are reminded that God gave them another baby that fought long and hard before she went to be with Jesus – and now He protects and nurtures her in heaven for them. During Baby Cara’s time on this earth, many lessons were learned…and much wisdom was gained about strength, perseverance, and faith.

This photo causes me to conjure another, more personal image…that of Jesus holding my hand and walking with me every minute of the day. Regardless of what we are going through, His Holy Spirit is with us. No matter who else is “in the picture,” Jesus is there – guiding and guarding us. Are there times in this life when we want to throw up our hands and ask, “What’s the point?” Absolutely! Do we sometimes feel as if we are all alone in the world? Certainly. But thankfully, Jesus never gives up on you and me. He never grows weary. Nothing about our lives is too much for Him, and He never abandons us. Jesus steadily and perfectly walks beside us, holding our hand and meeting our needs.

I thank God for the incredible example of courage He has provided in this young family who faithfully trusts Him for so much. I thank God that He sent Jesus to save us…and that His Holy Spirit is always holding our hand and walking with us through every minute of the day. We are never alone…we always, always have Jesus with us. It is up to us to recognize His presence and take hold of His hand. My prayer is that Jesus is in your picture today…and every day. Acknowledge His presence and power…and put one foot in front of the other with faith and courage. Give Jesus glory and praise for His continual presence and care. And share this Good News with others so that He is in their “picture” as well.

Daily Devotional for August 28, 2021 – Feeling the peace and presence of the Holy Spirit – and having the courage to say “I will!”

John 14:27
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

I’ve been listening to the song, “Say I Won’t,”* by the Contemporary Christian group, Mercy Me, for several weeks now. I love the music of Mercy Me, known by many for their single “I Can Only Imagine.” One phrase in the lyrics of this new song says, “I’m gonna know what it means to live and not just be alive.” This phrase beautifully describes the confidence of peace in Jesus Christ – and the presence of the Holy Spirit in our heart and mind. In the last few months, I have truly felt this presence and peace, and I found the phrase of learning to live and not just be alive especially poignant.

But as I searched for this song online, I discovered a whole other backstory. “Say I Won’t” was penned for the band’s former bus driver, Gary Miracle, who fell ill in December 2019. He was ultimately air lifted to a hospital in Orlando, Florida, where he went into septic shock. Gary was in a coma and ended up being hospitalized over 100 days. When he awoke, all four limbs had been amputated. In the music video for “Say I Won’t,” Miracle (and yes, that really is his last name!) is featured. He has been fitted for prosthetic arms/hands, and he uses an electric wheelchair to get around. Prosthetic legs are in the works, and the video ends with Miracle and his wife holding a sign that says, “Say I Won’t Walk Again!”

There are so many things that the devil and his agents want to say we won’t be able to do. Some say we won’t survive disease, dissension, war, a changing climate, heartaches and loss, and more. But God says, “I’ll give you vaccines and treatments, expert medical care, wise mediators and scientists. I will walk with you every step of the way and show you how to say ‘I will’ do this!” The Holy Spirit fills us with courage and confidence to address hard things head-on and say, “Not today, Satan!” He fills us with peace as we learn to listen for God’s will – and act on it.

I pray that none of us ever faces a giant as imposing as the challenge given to Gary Miracle. But we will all confront trials and tribulations. We will all have heartaches and sufferings of one sort or another…and we’ll declare it all to be too much to bear. This is when we must dig deeply and trust the Holy Spirit to fill us with His peace and presence. This is when we must “learn to live and not just be alive.” And we need to start today, wherever we are…and make this our daily motivation.

The world may say you won’t…but Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to help you say, “I will.” Hallelujah, and Amen!

Daily Devotional for August 27, 2021 – God has other plans…finding the courage to follow them…

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

The Living Bible copyright © 1971 by Tyndale House Foundation. Used by permission of Tyndale House Publishers Inc., Carol Stream, Illinois 60188. All rights reserved.

In the summer of 2015, my mother made plans. There were places she wanted to visit…articles she wanted to write. She offered to keep her great-grandson, Nathan, on Fridays, while his mother worked. She declared that she would host our family Thanksgiving meal. And then, she was diagnosed with cancer and thrust into a new “plan” that included trips to doctors and hospitals for tests, chemotherapy treatments, hair loss, and ultimately, a hospital stay that led to Hospice care…and all of her plans went out the window. Throughout all of this, Mother would say, “God had other plans.”

In the last 5½ years, this phrase has rung in my ears many times…“God had other plans.” We planned so many things that never happened…children’s programs at church, Space Camp and play performances for Timothy, uninterrupted in-person school for all three children, dance and cheer performances for Zola, hikes through the Ozarks for Greg and his friend Rick, and more. But God had other plans.

So many things that we thought would happen never materialized. Sometimes, what happened instead was a disappointment…but more times than I can count, I clearly saw God at work in the “new plan.” When I was unable to safely go to the pool for exercise, I started a walking program again – and I feel stronger and healthier as a result. As I grew stronger, I started taking walks – and a few hikes – with Greg, and we are hoping to do more of this in the fall and winter.

Isolation and social distancing have caused us to rethink how we approach several things…how to “make do” more often…and prompted us to prepare healthy meals at home since dining out is not a safe option.  I’ve read more books, done some much-needed cleaning and sorting, and we have watched a lot of interesting movies and series on TV and online. We have gained a new appreciation for interaction with loved ones and friends. I still remember the first hugs we were able to exchange with our children after vaccination…and their declarations that… “I’ve waited SO LONG for this hug!” and these were “the best hugs ever!”

God had other plans. And as a result, I feel like we are more intentional, and more deliberate about our daily living. We take less for granted, and we don’t sweat the small stuff.

The world is filled with people who are suffering in some way. And many are probably asking God, “What kind of a plan is this?” Others are likely wondering, “What’s the point of making plans if God is going to change them?” I am resting in the promise of Jeremiah 29:11. This was one of my mother’s favorite Bible verses – even in her last days. I will keep planning…with an open heart and mind – and an understanding that my calendar entries, hopes and dreams are written “in pencil.” I will trust that there will be times when my plans align with God’s…and others when they are vastly different. My prayer is that I will always have the courage to accept God’s changes with faith, hope and dignity.

I am asking God to give me confidence in the perfection of His plans and how much He loves and cares for me. We must keep making plans and seeking God’s will. The more we strive to align our desires with His, the more we will see His hand in every single aspect of our lives. We will learn to trust that when “God has other plans,” they are truly the best – and move forward in them with hope and courage. To God be the glory for such amazing love and care!

Daily Devotional for August 26, 2021 – Demonstrating Christian faith and courage…people are watching!

James 2:21-24
Don’t you remember that even our father Abraham was declared good because of what he did when he was willing to obey God, even if it meant offering his son Isaac to die on the altar? You see, he was trusting God so much that he was willing to do whatever God told him to; his faith was made complete by what he did—by his actions, his good deeds. And so it happened just as the Scriptures say, that Abraham trusted God, and the Lord declared him good in God’s sight, and he was even called “the friend of God.” So you see, a man is saved by what he does, as well as by what he believes.

Years ago, I was sitting in a nice restaurant and observed an older lady empty a nice china cup and saucer, wipe them with her napkin, and slide them into her purse! She was probably a lovely woman – maybe even a Christian who faithfully worked and served in her church (or someone who was “slipping” a bit!). But her theft quickly belied any Christian discipleship to those who saw her do this.

People are watching. What may seem like such a small thing in the scheme of it all can be huge in our witness as Christian disciples. How we comport ourselves tells others how we serve Jesus. How we dress, the language we use, what we share (or don’t) on social media – and even wearing a mask where recommended or required during this pandemic – all demonstrate whether we seek God’s will and act on it. Our words and actions are an outward example of our inner relationship with God.

I cannot say what is right for you. But people make snap judgments all the time, based on what they see and hear. When they see a “Christian” who is speaking and acting in a way that does not demonstrate the utmost love, care and respect for others, the validity of a life in Christ may be called into question. Our discrimination or disparagement of others can be all it takes to turn someone away from a relationship with Jesus. Our claim to be Christians while we gossip, make bigoted or racist comments, or share untruths and conspiracy theories tells others that we feel we can serve Jesus our way, regardless of His commands to love others as He does – and to treat them as we wish to be treated.

The “Christian” bumper sticker on the car of someone who exhibits road rage or other unseemly behaviors does nothing to further the Kingdom of Heaven! Our “show” of church attendance, public prayer, and loud protestations in favor of “God and country” are all shouting in the wind if we fall apart when the chips are down…pick and choose how and when we serve God…and “play favorites” in our missions and ministries.

Serving God with faithful obedience will not always be nice, neat, or even comfortable. We need to courageously step up and out…to speak up for the truth – and for those among us…and to take a stand and say, “This is where God is leading me.” We must remain in continual communication with God, so that we are certain where He is leading us…and then we must get up and GO wherever He sends us. People are watching. Let’s be sure we show them disciples who serve Jesus with faith, hope and courage…to the glory of God Almighty! Amen!

Daily Devotional for August 25, 2021 – Believe God’s promise of peace and trust Him in all things…are you living with hope and courage?

Isaiah 54:9-10
Just as in the time of Noah I swore that I would never again permit the waters of a flood to cover the earth and destroy its life, so now I swear that I will never again pour out my anger on you. For the mountains may depart and the hills disappear, but my kindness shall not leave you. My promise of peace for you will never be broken, says the Lord who has mercy upon you.

The entries in Jesus Calling* for the last few days have centered around trusting Jesus when the world seems to be falling apart. And let’s be honest, one could argue that our world is indeed falling apart right now on several fronts. So this word from the prophet Isaiah becomes even more poignant today…a message from God that “my kindness shall not leave you. My promise of peace for you will never be broken…”

Let’s take a minute to think on this. Let’s give ourselves a break from the worries and heartaches of this world and focus solely on Jesus. Whisper His name and call on Him to draw near. Hear Jesus tell you that He has you in the palm of His hand, and nothing this earth hurls your way can pry you away from His grip.

There is no shame in a momentary reprieve from the worries of this world. You can stop focusing on everything that is happening around you for a while and redirect your attention to Jesus. In fact, I recommend we all give this a try! The Rev. Joanna J Siebert suggests in her book A Daily Spiritual Rx for Ordinary Time** that we picture each of the people we are praying for holding the hand of Jesus – and turn that person over to Him. I would suggest that we do this with every person and situation.

Picture Jesus wrapping His arms around each person in Afghanistan and ministering to him/her as needed. Imagine Jesus scooping your loved ones into His arms and giving them His peace and protection. Think of those who are sick and suffering – and the people who care for them – and envision Jesus moving from person to person, healing and nurturing them as He deems necessary and right. Visualize those who are homeless, hungry, frightened, abused, or dealing with some sort of disaster as Jesus holds their hands and leads them to safety and a better situation. These are not Pollyanna pipe dreams…these are real scenarios in which Christ Jesus will work, because He makes all things possible.

While we are called as Christian disciples to care about others, we cannot be effective witnesses if we get mired in heartache and despair. We must acknowledge that these situations exist…then hand them over to Jesus. With courage and complete confidence that He will work in every life and circumstance, we must move forward with hope and faith that we have been promised His peace and protection. We must “let go and let God” and honor His commitment to us with our own demonstration of conviction and allegiance.

Spend some time today talking with Jesus. Picture Him receiving your cares and concerns – and the people and circumstances for which you are praying. Envision Jesus releasing you from the burden of responsibility and restoration. Be brave enough to say, “I’m no match for these situations…but Jesus is!” – and speak this with confidence and conviction. We have been assured that God’s promise of peace will never be broken. Now it’s time to act like we believe it!

*Jesus Calling
**A Daily Spiritual Rx for Ordinary Time

Daily Devotional for August 24, 2021 – Trading our sins and burdens for the salvation and care of Jesus – and living with hope and courage!

Isaiah 53:11-12
By suffering, the servant
will learn the true meaning
of obeying the Lord.
Although he is innocent,
he will take the punishment
for the sins of others,
so that many of them
will no longer be guilty.
The Lord will reward him
with honor and power
for sacrificing his life.
Others thought he was a sinner,
but he suffered for our sins
and asked God to forgive us.

Scripture taken from the Contemporary English Version © 1991,1992, 1995 by American Bible Society, Used by Permission.

The images and foretelling of Jesus in this scripture passage from Isaiah 53 are truly powerful. I am humbled to think that the Savior I have disappointed and abused with my words and actions still loves me beyond measure. I am embarrassed to think of how many times I have taken advantage of the sacrifice of Jesus (Who did nothing wrong) – and mistreated His gift of salvation by doing things my way. I am astounded that Jesus forgives me and intercedes on my behalf. But I am determined to do all I can to do better. And I am also asking Him to give me compassion and grace for fellow sinners along the way.

Jesus suffered undeservedly for OUR sins. He loved us that much! And because of this love, He understands our own “suffering” and struggles. Jesus is with us in every situation and circumstance. And He is saying to us, “I’ve got your back! Stick with me and follow My lead, and no matter what happens, I will take care of you.”

I will focus on serving Jesus with faith, hope and courage. I will concentrate every effort on speaking His truths and sharing His love with all others. I will move forward with confidence that the love of Christ is genuine, never-ending, and readily available to all who confess their sins and make a concerted effort to follow Him obediently. I know that there will be challenges and difficulties along the way – that there may even be moments of real suffering. But I also hear the words that Isaiah prophesied…that “by suffering, the servant will learn the true meaning of obeying the Lord.”

There is nothing that Jesus will ask of us that He does not fully understand and will not experience right alongside us. This fills me with hope and courage…and I pray it does the same for you. I will trade my sins, my worries and my burdens for His love and care. I will focus on serving Him in the missions and ministries He assigns me. And I will thank Him every single day for suffering for my sins – and loving me so abundantly and unconditionally.

Daily Devotional for August 23, 2021 – Take courage! Because of JESUS, we are complete and well!

Isaiah 53:1-5
Has anyone believed us
or seen the mighty power
of the Lord in action?
Like a young plant or a root
that sprouts in dry ground,
the servant grew up
obeying the Lord.
He wasn’t some handsome king.
Nothing about the way he looked
made him attractive to us.
He was hated and rejected;
his life was filled with sorrow
and terrible suffering.
No one wanted to look at him.
We despised him and said,
“He is a nobody!”
He suffered and endured
great pain for us,
but we thought his suffering
was punishment from God.
He was wounded and crushed
because of our sins;
by taking our punishment,
he made us completely well.

Have you ever heard of Martin “Marty” Cooper? Full disclosure…neither had I until yesterday, when I watched a news story about him on “CBS Sunday Morning.” Marty Cooper was the inventor of the first handheld cell phone. He is credited as the first person to make a handheld cell phone call in public. When you stop and think about how we communicate today, we all owe Marty Cooper a salute! Not only did he change our lives with this amazing invention, the 92-year-old Cooper – a child of Ukrainian immigrants – served as a submarine officer during the Korean War. Together with his wife, Arlene Harris, Cooper created the parent company of the Jitterbug cell phone. If you saw the Coopers on the streets of Chicago, you might walk right past them without a second glance. And yet, I would say that the work of this couple has greatly changed life as we know it. If you are old enough to remember rotary dial telephones, you understand what I am saying.

According to the CBS story, Cooper’s life has been filled with courageous decisions and actions. He has worked to make life better and easier for others – at least in the world of communication. Marty Cooper is one man in a long line of innovators who have changed our lives in some manner. But none changed things like Jesus.

As Isaiah predicted, Jesus was born an “ordinary” baby. He was likely a precocious child who grew into an extraordinary adult. But this is where the comparison to mere mortals ends…because Jesus made the ultimate “contribution” to mankind. He died on the cross to pay for our sins. He was not atoning for His own sins…because Jesus was sinless. He did this entirely for you and me and every other human being who confesses their sins and asks to be redeemed. Jesus took on our suffering, our transgressions, our heartaches and our sorrows. Because of Jesus, we can hold our head high and face every challenge this life offers.

I’ve been seeing memes on social media that suggest if we are having a bad day, we should think of this person or that situation. I propose that instead of comparing what is happening to us to the experiences of others, we focus on how Jesus is getting us through every single minute. He is carrying the heavy load and bearing the burdens, so that we don’t have to. No matter what is happening in our lives, Jesus is with us. He has paid the ultimate price – and yet, He still wants to walk with us on a daily basis and help us with anything and everything. This is huge. It is humbling and uplifting…and I am filled with hope and courage. I hope you are, as well.

The One who hung on a cross and took all our sin and suffering is with us in each and every minute. Call on Him to strengthen and embolden you. Thank Jesus – for everything! Put one foot in front of the other and say, “By His stripes, I am completely well and filled with strength and purpose.” And when you make your next phone call or send a text, thank God for Marty Cooper and all the other innovators He has used to enrich our lives. Hallelujah!

Daily Devotional for August 22, 2021 – Serving God with courage and strength…how beautiful are your feet?

Isaiah 52:7-10
How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of the messenger bringing good news,
Breaking the news that all’s well,
proclaiming good times, announcing salvation,
telling Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Voices! Listen! Your scouts are shouting, thunderclap shouts,
shouting in joyful unison.
They see with their own eyes
God coming back to Zion.
Break into song! Boom it out, ruins of Jerusalem:
“God has comforted his people!
He’s redeemed Jerusalem!”
God has rolled up his sleeves.
All the nations can see his holy, muscled arm.
Everyone, from one end of the earth to the other,
sees him at work, doing his salvation work.

Scripture quotations from The Message. © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene Peterson. Used by permission of NavPress, Colorado Springs, CO. All rights reserved.

My heart breaks for those who are suffering today…for those who are sick with COVID, for Afghanistan, the people of Haiti and those in the path of tropical storms and a flood that ravaged middle Tennessee, a sick little boy I follow on Facebook who is battling cancer, and the family of a toddler from our county who died after a tragic farm accident. I am sad for all who grieve the loss of loved ones – a heartache each of us knows in some form. I am more than a little disturbed over the divisiveness in our nation – and around the world. But this is NOT a hopeless message!

Read the words of the prophet Isaiah. “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger bringing good news!” Isaiah is telling us that better days are ahead…that God is comforting His people…and salvation work is taking place from one end of the earth to the other. Some would argue that we have been poor students of history – that we haven’t learned much from previous tragedies, conflicts and tribulations. And there is some truth to this.

But I maintain that history reminds us how God has rescued us and stood with us time after time. I shared only a few days ago the words of Isaiah 40:31…“those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.” Their “feet on the mountain” carry the Good News of Jesus Christ!

You and I have been called to be the “hands and feet” of Jesus on this earth…to share His Good News with others, and to love them as He does. We are called to offer hope and courage to those whose faith is wavering…to lift others in the precious name of Jesus and assure them that He is with them in all things and wants what is best for them. We are called to show the world that our God reigns indeed!

We are to move forward with hope and confidence that the prophesies of Isaiah are just as real and true this day as they have ever been. We are to take heart and encouragement in the assurance that God has rolled up His sleeves and is working from one end of the world to the other – and He cares about every breath we take. We are to run and not grow weary – to walk and not faint as we share in His work – and His message.

The struggle is real sometimes, but God is with us. With His fresh strength, we can do this! Hallelujah, and Amen!
